Ayana spinel is a very rare pink spinel mined in the Mahenge region of Tanzania. This stone is characterized by its bright pink color. "Ayana" means beautiful flower in Swahili.
Due to the increasing demand for alternative gemstones to ruby, spinel has been gaining popularity with gemstone enthusiats and jewelers alike. The gemstone comes in a wide variety of colors from red to blue to purple. Spinel is an August birthstone together with peridot and sardonyx.
